Three Half-Mast Flags
In this issue of The Capital City Hues, we set a milestone that I never wanted to set. The last two weeks have been difficult although I haven’t had the time to feel the emotion of it as I have scrambled to cover graduations and hit many Dane County high schools to take photos of graduating seniors of color with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better for The Hues Row of Excellence feature.
And oftentimes because I am still moving fast like driving a car going 70 miles per hour without a windshield to get a lot of things accomplished, I don’t take the time to take care of personal things. And in an instance where three African American men whom I knew in some capacity died within two weeks of each other, I know it. I feel it somewhere and I keep moving lest the balls that I juggle come crashing down.
Milton Donald, Gaddi Ben Dan and Jeff Mack Sr. passed away during the past two weeks and I know in a corner of my soul that I grieve.
