Still Making America White Again
There are two things that seem to be the primary driving forces of the Trump Administration: white nationalism and making a buck off of the deal. And making a buck can certainly reinforce and intensify the white nationalist tendencies of Trump because of the income disparities that fall along racial lines in the U.S. and around the world.
I keep telling myself that this cannot be true, that Trump really isn’t doing these things. But news story after news story comes through my emails as well as CNN and CBS News stories once again reveal the unvarnished truth that Trump is a racist. Trump’s immigration actions are about shipping people to Latin America without due process — or even a determination of their status — while leaving undocumented Europeans alone. It’s all about the color of the skin in terms of who is being detained by ICE.
The immigrant flow is not being reversed for white Afrikaners from South Africa however. Trump insists that there is genocide happening in South Africa against this group of white folks, who are in the minority. Perhaps Trump feels that white people in the minority must be being brutally treated — just like what happened in the U.S. during slavery to Africans who had been enslaved.
