2023 NAACP Dane County Branch Freedom Fund Banquet: Attacks on Civil Rights
Support for civil rights in Dane County is strong as reflected by the number of members and supporters who filled the Madison Concourse Hotel ballroom on October 28 for the NAACP Dane County Branc’s 2023 Freedom Fund Banquet.
During the reception, people came together like it was a family reunion networking and catching up with each other.
And during the dinner, emceed by Theola Carter, we remembered while we were all gathered through the remarks of State President Wendell Harris, Branch President Gregory Jones, State Rep Sheila Stubbs and others. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul brought it all home as he spoke about the different civil rights challenges facing our state and nation today. While we often confront the individual trees of civil rights, Kaul helped us see the forest and the threat it faces from the flames of anti-democratic forces.
Congratulations to Dinner Chair Gwen Jones and her team for bringing us all together in such and elegant way.
Now the work begins.
