By Jonathan Gramling
On June 19, 2022 at the Oregon Performing Arts Center, Noopur Patel, a rising 12th grader at Waunakee High School, performed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram, kind of graduation performance to show the world that Noopur was ready to perform and teach the Indian Classical Dance. Dancing to the music of an Indian orchestra and under the watchful eye of Guru Meenakshi Ganesan, director of the Kalaanjali School of Dance, Noopur exhibited the discipline, grace and expression of this art form that stretches back centuries
During the performance of seven pieces over the course of 1-2 hours, emoted the emotion that is uniquely expressed through this art form and clearly showed her mastery of its techniques.
Noopur made it a family affair when her sister younger sister Prachi performed during Noopur’s costume change. And as a finale, Noopur performed with her mother Parul.
The event closed with the comments of the guests of honor and then a celebration dinner.
Noopur Patel nailed her performance, a shining example of the excellence emanating from the Kalaanjali School of Dance. It was an outstanding afternoon.
