Insurrection Is Coming!
I must admit that my political mercury fluctuates up and down way to quickly and frequently. On one day, I feel like Paul Revere riding my print horse shouting, ‘The British are coming! The British are coming! And then on some other days, I feel like a vacuous conspiracy theorist thinking, ‘I’ve got to be imagining this. This is too far fetched. All Americans are committed to democracy. So it must be my lying eyes’ playing tricks on me.
But I feel like Paul Revere today. My son used to tell me that I was obsessed with Donald Trump, meaning I was just a little off. Nowadays, he tends to agree with me although he feels that Trump is just another politician.
Call me paranoid, but I feel that an insurrection is planned for this November if things don’t go the way that Trump wants them to go. Donald Trump’s approval rating is now 37 percent, but he isn’t concerned. He keeps acting as if his approval rating is 60 percent or more.
And he doesn’t appear to be concerned that in normal times, this low of an approval rating in the midterm election cycle where the sitting president’s political party historically loses seats would indicate that Republicans would lose their thin margins in the House and the Senate and Trump would be handcuffed for the rest of his term because Democrats would gain control of Congress.
And perhaps it’s because of all of the dark political contributions that are directed by Trump’s preferences. In the recent Kentucky primary, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, a Trump critic, lost to Ed Gallrein who was endorsed by Trump. And much more out-of-state money was contributed to Gallrein.
Trump took along the CEOs of Apple, BlackRock, Blackstone, NIVIDA and Telsa when he did a state visit to China. It was more like a trade mission. Who do these people make political contributions to? We will probably never know because of the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United, basically the same Supreme Court that gave Donald Trump carte blanche immunity to do whatever he wanted to do as president, the U.S. Constitution be damned.
During the 2020 presidential debate, when asked to condemn white supremacists, Trump said to the right-wing group the Proud Boys, "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by." It is no coincidence that members of the Proud Boys and other right-wing militias were part of the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and early in 2025, Trump pardoned 1,600 people convicted of crimes in federal courts. Many were convicted of assaulting Washington, D.C. and Capitol police officers. Here was the leader of the law and order Republican Party releasing known felons who had assaulted the police.
Here is a group of felons, many who belong to right-wing militias or are personally committed to Trump the Demigod, who are personally obligated to Trump because he pardoned them.
It was announced on May 18th that Trump had settled his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS because an independent contractor had leaked Trump’s tax returns, the ones that show he doesn’t pay federal income tax — although her certainly knows how to spend our money on illegal wars and monuments to himself.
And then on May 18th, after Trump’s acting attorney general who had been his personal lawyer testified before Congress, Trump’s Department of Justice quietly said that as part of the settlement, a $1.776 billion fund had been set up to “compensate” the January 6th insurrectionists. How beholden can the Proud Boys and other right-wing militia members be to Trump? Not only did he release them from jails and prisons for the violent felonies they committed, but now he is giving them unrestricted money to buy weapons if they so choose. They will be free, armed and ready.
Meanwhile on the FBI front, on January 28th, the FBI seized the Fulton, County, Georgia election records. Interestingly, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence was there. And the FBI refuses to return the records to Fulton County officials. If they have completed their review — it’s been almost four months — why don’t they return the election information? Why are they stalling?
On May 15th, it was reported that the FBI is investigating Wisconsin’s 2020 election — not the 2024 election when Trump won. They have contacted Wisconsin officials. This comes as the Wisconsin Election Commission and other Wisconsin election officials have refused to turn over massive amounts of voter data — personal data — over to the federal government.
Do they intend to say that thousands of voters — from Democratic strongholds — are disqualified from voting at the eleventh hour? How many Republican dominated states is this happening in? None that I can recall.
And what can we say about the judicial edicts on 2026 redistricting? The U.S. Supreme Court eviscerated the Voting Rights Act of 1965 recently and a slew of southern states have suddenly engaged in redistricting that will most likely result in fewer African American congresspeople. Of course they contend this isn’t racial. It’s just resulting from centuries of white supremacist sentiment being unleashed once again. Federal judge after federal judge installed by Republicans have ruled in favor of Trump’s Republicans, whether due to favorable redistricting or not.
And so, my dear readers, it is not unfathomable for me to think that since Trump spurred a violent insurrection to prevent the Electoral College vote count by Congress that would elect Joe Biden president on January 6, 2021, why wouldn’t he spur a violent insurrection on November 3, 2026 to prevent the Congress from becoming Democratic controlled?
What has he got to lose? The U.S. Supreme Court has already granted him immunity from any action nhe takes as U.S. president. He has already shown that he will protect his followers, even if they have committed felonious crimes by blanket pardoning them no matter what assault they may have committed? And now he is willing to give then $1.776 billion which they can spend on guns and armaments.
What’s to prevent Trump — through his DOJ and FBI — to declare that election fraud has occurred in Georgia, Wisconsin and other places where the vote may not be going his way and use his federal government-funded militia like the Proud Boys to prevent the vote from being counted and declaring that the Republicans have retained control of the House and Senate regardless of the actual vote count?
With what has been unfolding and the constant lies that Trump tells, is this so far fetched?
Am I a Paul Revere truth teller or a conspiracy nut? We shall know on November 3rd.
