The Runway Report

By Jonathan Gramling
There was a whole lot of beauty going on at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center December 7 as
the 51st annual Ebony Fashion Fair hit the runway and what a report it gave. Stylish, handsome and beautiful
models graced the stage wearing top European, Asian and American designs. There were the chic, elegant
designs of Marc Bouwer, Jean Louis Scherrer, Christian LaCroix and Missoni. And as the models strutted their stuff
down the runway, they enacted mini-vignettes of humor to accentuate the designs they wore. With every new
fashion and pose, the audience voiced its approval with applause, gasps and laughter.
And a whole lot of beauty went into the event as the Ebony Fashion Fair — which has helped raise more than $55
million for charities — and the Madison Metropolitan Chapter of The Links joined forces to raise scholarship funds
for deserving Madison-area African American high school graduates and continuing post-secondary scholars.
Dozens of African American scholars have been helped by The Links through the years. No doubt about it, there
was a whole lot of beauty — inside and out — going on at the Ebony Fashion Fair. Giving never gets any better
than this.
