| "We invited the Spanish-speaking community to come and learn and get information about safety in their home and about their rights as a renter or to learn how to save energy in their home," said MG & E's Annette Miller. "If they have energy assistance needs, they could set up an appointment with Energy Services. We have someone here to talk to about home inspections and what to look for as a homeowner or thinking about buying a home." The fair also featured workshops on household budgeting and other important topics. And the entire fair was conducted in Spanish. What is the end result Miller was looking for? "People will be more informed and educated about their health, their safety, and their home," she said. By the level of activity going on at each booth, the fair accomplished its mission. |

| It's difficult for low-income families to travel around the city in search of information about programs and services that may make a difference in their lives. It is especially difficult when the family's primary language is Spanish. So instead of the low-income consumer coming to them, MG&E, the American Red Cross, and other service providers and programs came together to bring their services and information to where many of the families live. On November 18, they held a Latino Community Energy Resource Fair at the Villager Mall. The adults perused an array of booths from different agencies and MG&E in the mall's Financial Services Center as their supervised children played in an adjoining room. |
