Greetings!
Greetings!

As we embark on the 2017-2018 school year, the Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD) continues to
be one of the fastest growing districts in the state of Wisconsin!!

Our district includes 12 schools — seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one upper middle
school, one high school, and an alternative learning school.  In the past 10 years, our District has
grown by nearly 2,500 students, 6 out of 7 of our existing elementary schools are at over capacity and
enrollment growth projections estimate more than 1,600 new students will possibly be enrolled by
2025.

Of our approximate 8,200 plus students, per the 3rd Friday demographics in the 2016-2017 school year,
64.8 percent White, 9.6 percent Black, 9.1 percent Asian, 8.8 percent Hispanic, 7.5 percent two races
or more and 23.7 percent students of poverty.
As I enter my third year as Sun Prairie's first person of color elected on School Board, it truly is exciting times in this growing city of nearly
33,000 residents. Our District was voted for the second year in the row (2016 & 2017) as the "Best Place to Work in Sun Prairie", we have two,
state of the art elementary schools currently under construction and for our students: our futures depend on us ... every child, every day.
