excellent. The classes are popular and people have said that they wanted more. I think it is a positive opportunity to work out, get
physical and learn about nutrition. 100 Black Men of Madison’s Rod Ladson will cook healthily. That is a popular event. He is primed to
show us how to cook and eat healthier.”

Walk It Out is a combination walk and exercise program. It begins with a two-mile walk “at your own speed” at 8:30 a.m. around the
perimeter of Warner Park. For those who aren’t in the walking mood, there is reflexology and massages available while one waits for
the walkers to make their way back to the community center.

According to Ghadeer Alafifi from Group Health, “Reflexology is a scientific art based on the premise that there are zones and reflex
areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all body parts. The physical act of applying specific pressure using the thumb, finger
and hand techniques result in stress reduction, which causes a physiological change in the body.”

While folks are out there walking, you can be in the community center relaxing. After the walk, workshops will begin. Group Health staff
will be offering classes in pilates, a series of controlled, following movement that may not only move shape, but can also promote
greater strength, flexibility and condition of your body, Tai Chi and zumba. Reflexology and the massages will also continue to be
available. An asthma educator will also be available to answer people’s questions about asthma. These forms of complementary
medicine are part of the overall wellness program at Group Health.

“All of our classes are open to the public,” said Emily Sanders, community relations director for Group Health. “However, if you are a
Group Health member, it is part of your membership and you receive discounts toward your complimentary medicine services. Most of
our clinics provide these services. You can register online or call one of the clinics to register. We also have information online or in
our clinics about which services are offered at which locations. We would encourage all of our members and the public to utilize the
services. It is integrated into your primary care at Group Health and are services your provider might recommend to help you with
some of your medical conditions.”

Walk It Out is a fun and healthy way to spend a Saturday summer morning.

“People look forward to this event each year,” said Enid Glenn, the chair of the event.” They think it is awesome. They love it. They like
all of the classes that Group Health provides. They find everything appealing. The feel it is a very good community event. It’s the young
folks as well as the old folks who are saying this. People really want us to do more of this.”

The 2012 Walk It Out will begins at 8:30 a.m. on June 23rd at Warner Park Community Center. To register for the event, visit

They say that misery enjoys company, but it can also be said — maybe
because it does involve a little misery — that staying fit enjoys company
as well. While working out is something that all too many of us find easy to
put off, nothing is more essential to living a high quality of life well into our
golden years. And exercise is also important for the proper development of
young people. Life is action and there is no better way to get active than
with a group of like-minded people.

For the fifth year, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority with its partners Group
Health Cooperative and 100 Black Men of Madison are presenting Walk It
Out on Saturday June 23rd at the Warner Park Community Center to allow
people to get active and healthy in a very socially-pleasant way.
“We’ve gotten great feedback from folks,” said Frances Huntley-Cooper,
the AKA president about this free event. “We just need to find a way to get
people back out each year. One problem we may have is that we don’t
have a standard Saturday when we hold it. When people come, they really
enjoy it. The instructors that Group Health provides for us have been
