Techno Poet

im the new technopoet
i read lorna goodison while I pause
during stop signs and lights
book propped on the steering wheel
imbibing poetry at other waits
the drs, grocery lines,
all hum drum places.

im the new technopoet
i carry a lap top in my biggest black purse while others warn that computer is too delicate it has got to carry heavy words therefore it might as well toughen up now.

im the new technopoet
i imagine, create, write
on the run
dodging the busy demon
with stern rebuke
and mazes that keep you lost
i write to really live.

Too Bitter and Too Sweet

For BPC &  JBB

This poem is too personal
about how we met
Autumn was coming
Momma had cancer
but we didn';t know
August to December
I hurried our love

This poem is too revealing
about how we felt
Winter arrived
and the cancer battle began
When you two were introduced
mother and boyfriend
there was love and laughter

This poem is too visceral
about what we shared
metastasized cells attacked her
sorrow attacked me
pain kept us frozen and
Spring wasn't welcomed
in our hearts.

This poem is too intimate
about what happened later
when my Momma died.
Summer brought grief
humbling my spirit.
Bittersweet intricacy
of parental loss and romantic gain.
