In memoriam Clara Viviana Ulloa Salazar 1974 - 2009
|

Today is a very sad day. The rain stopped for a brief moment. The clouds parted
away from each other and from within the opening a bright sun emerged. It shined
through the window over her beautiful face and her wavy hair. It was 2 p.m. when
she left this world. Clara Viviana Ulloa Salazar died among family members and
friends in Seattle, Washington after a long and fearless battle with cancer.
Until the end she remained strong and positive. A few moments after her death
and mourning her loss I reflected on our lives together and how through all the
challenges life brought us, we remained close friends and united by the most
precious gift life gave us: our daughter Aisha. Viviana was a wonderful woman, a
wonderful mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. Everyone who knew Viviana
knows this to be a fact. Among the many traits that attracted me to Viviana was her
beautiful green eyes, her radiant smile, her positive attitude in life and her unbending
commitment to helping others and for social justice.
Her passion was to help children both: the very young and adolescents facing
psychological and physical traumas. When she worked at the Dane County Mental
Health Center and Centro Hispano, she would often become saddened for she always
wished that she could give more to these children and their families. She was a
compassionate individual, with a big heart. She worked hard to help those in need,
always with a big smile, a sense of justice and expecting nothing in return but smiles
and hugs. She often volunteered at community events always with a great smile on
her face. Clara Vivian Ulloa Salazar, the mother of my child, left us today to join the
bright stars in heaven. May all of us who know Viviana be hugged by the light of the
stars and be motivated and inspired to carry on her legacy for helping others and for
creating social justice. I hope that those in Madison, Wisconsin, our beloved city,
remember Viviana as an active community member that brought many smiles to the
children she worked with and those who came into contact with her. Viviana is in
heaven now. We miss her very much. Viviana 1974-2009.
Vivian is survived by her mother Clara, her daughter Aisha, her brothers and a
big extended family.
With love and in peace.
