A musical tribute to Black History
On February 25, the UW School of Music’s Wind Ensemble hosted a musical tribute to Black
History at the Mills Concert Hall in the Mosse Humanities Building. It was a splendid evening
that offered up a fine selection of compositions that either recognized the African American
contributions to American music or commemorated significant events in Black History. Guest
performers included members of UW-Madison’s First Wave, the Sun Prairie Jazz Band,
Governor Harris, Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton and the Holy Redeemer Church of God in Christ
from Milwaukee. It was, to say the least, an incredible night of melodic inspiration.
