                                                 Happy Birthday Dr. King

I was young in elementary school when you died
But now that I am older I see your dreams coming alive

I see a son of Africa rising toward the presidency
I see a daughter financing an academy for girls in our motherland far, far away
I see a generation of hip-hop prophets proclaiming truths full of fire shut up in
  the bones

I see you dreams for advances and opportunities
Your dreams for the beloved community
But within your dreams I also see why you explained why we can’t wait

For a reversal from international corporate-influenced governments around the
world to societies governed for the people by the people
We can’t wait

For deliverance from profitable industrie$ of: foreign wars,
and the excess imprisonment of local minorities
We can’t wait

For freedom from fear of the multi-ethnicities of people and cultures
created in God’s image
We can’t wait

Yesterday, you had dreams for “shalom”, “umbuntu”, “wholistic peace”
Today, we can’t wait for ALL your dreams to come true

Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!
